Ratovi
ostavljaju neizbrisive tragove
Hrvatska je
kroz vlastito iskustvo rata svjesna njegovih posljedica.
trenutka kad oružje utihne – ostavlja dugotrajne traume, ekonomske i
No, ako rat pripremamo, a mir samo deklarativno zagovaramo, kako možemo očekivati drugačiji ishod?
Prvi
ključni alat u analizi i sprječavanju budućih ratova?
Rusija, Ukrajina i nuklearna prijetnja
Dok se svijet suočava s ekonomskim i sigurnosnim
posljedicama rata, Moskva dodatno zaoštrava retoriku, optužujući Ukrajinu za
napade na nuklearne elektrane, pritom zaboravljajući vlastitu agresiju. Kremlj
ruske snage militarizirale okupiranu nuklearnu elektranu Zaporižja i ugrozile
strukturu reaktora u Černobilu dodatno produbio zabrinutost.
Vrijeme je za istinski dijalog o miru

No Hope for Future Progress in America or Europe Until
a Genuine Peace is Achieved in Ukraine!
The war in Ukraine has brought instability not only to that country but to the entire world. Societies are deeply divided, political tensions are rising, economic uncertainty is growing, and conversations in families, workplaces, and media continue to revolve around the conflict. The global focus is on weapons and military strategies, while genuine discussions about peace are nearly absent.
Wars Leave
Lasting Scars
Croatia,
through its own experience in war, understands the devastating consequences of
conflict. Those who survived the Homeland War know that war destroys not only
economies and infrastructure but also lives, families, and entire generations.
War does not end when the weapons fall silent—it leaves long-term trauma,
economic and demographic losses, and illnesses that affect future generations.
The same is happening in Ukraine now, with the threat of further escalation looming.
War: A
Repeated Historical Lesson Humanity Fails to Learn
The
well-known Latin phrase "If you want peace, prepare for war" (Si vis
pacem, para bellum) reflects the harsh reality of our world. But if we continue
to prepare for war while only paying lip service to peace, how can we expect a
different outcome? The First World War was called "the war to end all
wars," yet just twenty years later, the world plunged into an even more
devastating conflict—World War II, which claimed over 70 million lives.
Artificial
Intelligence – A Powerful Ally for Peace?
The
Marshall Plan for Croatia association, in cooperation with international
partners and the diaspora, has launched the initiative The Cost of Wars to
raise awareness of the real consequences of conflicts.
This raises an important question: Can artificial intelligence (AI), which is already revolutionizing medicine and science, become a crucial tool in analyzing and preventing future wars? Can AI be used to predict conflicts, provide early warnings, and develop strategies for sustainable peace rather than just strengthening military capabilities?
Russia, Ukraine, and the Nuclear Threat
While the
world grapples with the economic and security consequences of the war, Moscow
continues to escalate tensions, accusing Ukraine of attacks on nuclear power
plants while conveniently ignoring its own aggression. The Kremlin uses these
accusations to discredit Kyiv and divert attention from its own war crimes. The
Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reminds us that Russian forces have
militarized the occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, endangering its
security. Meanwhile, a recent Russian Shahed drone attack damaged the
protective structure of a reactor in Chernobyl, further deepening global
concerns about Russia’s approach to nuclear safety.
Time for a
True Dialogue on Peace
As long as
the world remains focused solely on war strategies and fails to invest
systematically in long-term peace mechanisms, there is no hope for future
progress—neither in Europe, nor in America, nor anywhere else. It is time for
the international community to shift its efforts toward genuine peace and
stability rather than just military alliances and arms sales. Artificial
intelligence, innovation, and diplomacy must become the tools of a new era— with
proof that we are a civilized world an era where peace is not just a fragile
pause between wars but a lasting global commitment.
