Uz Marshall plan za Hrvatsku-projekt nade za dijasporu i mlade!
Tekst:Josip Josef Mayer
Mladi žele mir, ne rat. To smo jasno vidjeli tijekom
Danas, u mirnodopskim vremenima, njihovi snovi ostaju isti –
siguran i dostojanstven život. No,
Hrvatsku i dijasporu.
Svi
zajedno, dijaspora i domovina, možemo stvoriti temelje za kvalitetniju
budućnost – u Hrvatskoj i diljem svijeta.
WITH THE
MARSHALL PLAN FOR CROATIA – A PROJECT OF HOPE FOR THE DIASPORA AND YOUTH
Let the Croatian rose remain a symbol of strength and creative energy, inspiring us toward work, peace, and progress. Our shared mission is to build a future of peace, not only in Croatia but also in the Balkans and beyond.
Young
people desire peace, not war. This was evident during the Croatian Homeland War
when the greatest wish was to preserve homes and secure a future. Today, in
times of peace, their dreams remain the same—a safe and dignified life. Yet,
the Balkans are often portrayed as a region where cooperation and progress are
elusive. This perception can be changed through modern initiatives like the
ones championed by Mr. Zdenko Štriga with the Marshall Plan for Croatia and its
diaspora.
This
project envisions the construction of "smart houses of knowledge"
that would connect Croatia with its diaspora as well as with neighboring
countries. Such centers could serve as foundations for regional progress,
empowering young people to become drivers of positive change.
The late President Franjo Tuđman recognized the crucial role of the diaspora in rebuilding and developing Croatia. His vision of reconciliation should inspire today's generations, both in Croatia and its neighboring countries. Only through cooperation can we overcome divisions and build a shared future.
It is
important to remind the world that former Yugoslavia, despite its flaws, was
the first multinational state in Europe after World War II. It comprised six
nations—Croats, Serbs, Slovenes, Macedonians, Albanians, and others—connected
in their unique ways. However, the violence and wars of the 1990s revealed how
fragile peace and dialogue can be, with young people on all sides suffering
immeasurable losses.
Today, in
light of conflicts like the one in Ukraine, we must advocate even more strongly
for peace and the future. Our children deserve a world without war, one where
they have opportunities for education, work, and a dignified life. This is the
vision of the Marshall Plan for Croatia and its diaspora—a project that
connects people, transcends borders, and gives young people a reason to stay
and return to their homeland.
Together,
as the diaspora and the homeland, we can lay the foundations for a brighter
future—in Croatia and across the world.
